The Connecticut State Department of Transportation announced that there will be daily right lane closures northbound on the parkway between exit 42 in Westport and the North Avenue overpass.

Closures are expected between 6 a.m. and noon, beginning this week. All lanes are expected to be open as of 12:30 p.m. each day through Thursday, May 16. There will also be nightly closures in both directions.

During the closures, the DOT said that motorists can expect delays and should seek alternate routes when available.

According to the DOT, the lane closures are necessary to facilitate work associated with improving a 5five-mile section of the parkway and restoring nearly a dozen bridges from the Newtown Turnpike overpass in Westport to the Congress Street overpass in Fairfield. Roadway improvements will include new drainage systems, barrier systems, signage, and upgrades to the roadway pavement itself.
